Sunday NIght Fights

No, not really any fights - just me fighting the urge to go to bed. Why, you may ask? It's hard for my brain to slow down at night - too much stuff going on. I think sometimes I just stay up until I'm so tired I have no choice but to fall asleep. I'm not sure. But I did bake brownies and cake tonight, so it's all good.

I decided to add a pic to the blog. These are the two youngest of the clan: Joshua who turned 11 in December and WhitePaw, who is around 6 months old. The kitten is a nut! He's grown somewhat since this picture (and so has Joshua.)

Friday's Come!

Here I sit, on a Friday evening, in front of the computer. Too much stuff going on around me to make a particularly coherent post. So, random thoughts until later...

I was net control for the ham radio net tonight. If you don't know what ham radio is, just think CB's with a larger area to reach. It's a lot of fun and you meet new people. When the tsunami struck recently? (a year and a half ago?) HAM radio operators were one of the front lines of communications when cell phone service and other methods of communication were knocked out. There are times of disaster when the skills and knowledge come in handy.

That last paragraph was almost coherent. So I guess I'm not too bad off. Better not try for any more, though.

Tired...

It is late, but I'm going to try to post at least once a day, for all my fans and readers! (And you two know who you are! LOL)

Long day at school and church today - and I'm still up trying to find a solution to a problem that I can't really fix...

Hmmmmm, kind of like the US and Iraq, I guess...

Send in the troops!

The President, The Hat, and The Chicken

We just finished watching the President's State of the Union address. While I have respect for the office and for the man, I think there is no "solution" that will bring peace to Iraq. The country is in turmoil because the people are in turmoil, and no amount of outside interference - short of invading and occupying Iraq as conquerors - will resolve the situation.

It saddens my heart, because of the men and women in danger's way. My own son is talking of joining the armed services. I have great respect for these men and women - and I know I owe my freedom of blogging to the sacrifice of many. But there is no solution here - there will be no peace. As the Bible tells us, there will be wars and rumors of war. It has been so since the beginning and will be until the end.

I am teaching two history classes now and the more I teach, the more I think about how young our country actually is. Compared to the time the earth has revolved around the sun, the United States of America is a relative newcomer. We can't be the playground monitor for everyone - it's time to define our role and work on our own country.

Okay, that's probably the deepest thing I've written in a while. Hope it didn't scare anyone off.

And now - the Hat. I cannot find a good pattern to crochet a stocking hat for a young man from our church! I have started three and taken them apart. I'm not happy...

The Chicken - put it in the crockpot this morning with a little seasoning. It was nice to come home to the smell of chicken!

Oh, and the Van - it actualy passed inspection!! Whoo hoo! Okay, the ticket will cost a total of $86 but that's life.

Until tomorrow...

Snow Day, Snow Day, Time to Clean the House Day!

Hi, everyone!

I was really looking forward to this snow day! It may sound crazy, but my house has been a mess for quite a while. So now I have an opportunity to clean, and I'm taking it. The boys are even helping (somewhat reluctantly.) But I have promised them breaks and right now we're on one.

I will post my success at the end of the day. I am looking forward to getting into my closet again and seeing the yarns I have. One young man from church who is in the service just requested a crocheted cap, so I need to get on that!

Yeah!!!!! Snow!!!!!

Well, we finally got some snow here! It was enough to make driving home from church a little scary - but not too bad. No church tonight, so we all just hung out at home and watched the football game on TV.

The call came about 9:00 to cancel school tomorrow! Yeah! Now I can clean! Yeah - I think!

But see, I think I got that ticket yesterday for a reason - God was arranging things so we wouldn't take that thing to church in West Virginia and end up in an accident. Who knows? I just know He takes good care of us!

Good sermon at church today - I'll post some notes later.

I wonder why I think I can write in fragments in this blog. Oh well.

A tale of Law Enforcement to make you giggle:

Okay, I've been driving around on a dead inspection sticker since the end of July - I knew it was dead, and so did the husband. Life has been busy and we just kept putting it off and putting it off.

Fast forward to today - the teenaged Marauder and I are coming home from the grocery store. I spy the car in my rear view mirror - lights are on, but no siren. I pull over and sure enough - I get a summons because of the dead inspection sticker. I deserve it. I did the deed. Thanks, officer, have a nice day.

So, I pull back on to the main drag to head home. Take one turn and go through the little neighborhood. Another police car passes me going the other direction. I see him turn around in my rear view mirror. I make another couple of turns (while he catches up) and - you guessed it - he turns his lights on and pulls me over.

After seeing the OTHER citation sheet with the time of 10 minutes before, he STILL felt the need to run my license and registration. At least I didn't get ANOTHER ticket.

I asked the second officer, "Did they make an announcement this morning for you all to check for stickers?"

He said no, but I have my doubts....

Oh well, that was my day. How was yours?

The First Post

Hello there, mystery readers! Welcome to my blog! You will find very interesting things here as the days go by. Or not. But at least I will have somewhere to go on and on about my favorite things: my kids, my school, geocaching, crocheting, God, sign language, Finding Nemo! Who knows what else? Hang on! It's going to be a bumpy ride!
